Greyscalegorilla, Cargo & co.
Greyscalegorilla merged with KitBash3D in 2025 and now ships through Cargo, which has its own Cinema 4D plugin. GG Studio is available inside Cargo. So the question C4D Migrator asks isn’t really “Hub or Studio?” — it’s connector or library.
Connectors and the library
Section titled “Connectors and the library”- A connector is the small bridge plugin an asset app installs into Cinema 4D: GSG Hub, the Cinema 4D Connect plugin, and Cargo’s Cinema 4D plugin. Each one is built for a single Cinema 4D version, so it needs reinstalling for each new major version — even though the app behind it (Cargo, Studio) doesn’t.
- The Studio library is the Greyscalegorilla plugin set itself (AlignTools, GorillaCam, HDRI Link, Light Kit Pro and the rest). It migrates like any other plugin, under the normal C++ rule: its C++ plugins stay behind on a major-version jump, and the Python tools inside it come across.
The question
Section titled “The question”The Greyscalegorilla step offers:
- Neither — I don’t use any of it. (default)
- Cargo — the KitBash3D / Greyscalegorilla app.
- Hub — the older GG Hub launcher.
- Studio — GG plugins installed directly.
- Some combination of the above.
All the answers except Neither do the same thing: on a major-version migration, every connector folder is left behind, with a note in the report saying how to reinstall it. If you have no connectors, nothing changes. Within the same major version (2026.2 → 2026.3) connectors keep working, so they are carried as they are, whatever you answer.
The Greyscalegorilla / Cargo integration box on the Items screen shows your answer and is locked. Go Back to the Greyscalegorilla step to change it.
Your Greyscalegorilla preferences and asset folder setting travel with Preferences either way.
Reinstalling the connector
Section titled “Reinstalling the connector”After migrating, check the report’s Plugins skipped section:
- Cargo connector — open Cargo and install its Cinema 4D plugin again, choosing the new Cinema 4D version. If Cargo doesn’t list that version yet, check KitBash3D’s help centre.
- Greyscalegorilla connector — reinstall it for the new version from Cargo or GSG Hub.
Connector folders are recognised by name: anything starting with Greyscalegorilla, GSG,
Cargo, KitBash or KB3D that also mentions Hub, Connect, Cargo, KitBash or KB3D — for example
GSG_Hub_26, GreyscalegorillaCinema4DConnect_2026 or KitBashCargoC4D2026.
