What’s new

  • Non-English Windows: fixes the Preview screen stopping with no Migrate or Back button (reported on German Windows).
  • If a screen fails, it now says what went wrong and keeps a Back button, instead of stopping half-drawn.
  • New copy log link at the bottom right, which puts the app’s log on the clipboard for a support ticket. See Licensing & support.
  • Smaller download: leaves out interface libraries the app never used.
  • The user guide now covers installing through the aescripts + aeplugins manager.
  • macOS: fixes a crash on launch.

The first public release, on aescripts + aeplugins.

  • One-pass migration of preferences, layouts, scripts, plugins, Asset Browser catalogs, node groups, custom nodes and the default scene. See What gets migrated.
  • Finds your installs and pre-selects last year’s as the source and this year’s as the target.
  • Skips C++ plugins on a major-version jump and lists them in the report for reinstalling; Python plugins and scripts are carried. See Plugins.
  • External plugin folders are cloned to a folder for the new version, leaving the old version untouched.
  • Paths inside your preferences are repointed at the new version’s folder.
  • Layouts are merged, not just copied, across a major version: the new version’s changes to the built-in layout yours started from are added to your startup and saved layouts, and everything you changed stays. Your startup layout also comes across untouched, as Startup layout from <version>. See Preferences & layouts.
  • Merges into folders the new version already has, backing up anything it replaces.
  • Asks about Greyscalegorilla / Cargo, INSYDIUM and Redshift and plans around your answers.
  • Links Team Render and command-line installs to the same plugins.
  • Full preview before anything is written; HTML report afterwards.
  • Snapshot before every migration, with one-click restore, revert and factory reset. See Safety & undo.
  • Licensing: activate with an aescripts licence or a Gumroad key; a deactivate link at the bottom right for moving machines. The trial previews a migration but can’t run it.
  • Fixed: the Items list ticked Greyscalegorilla and INSYDIUM even after you said no on their steps. Those two now show your answer, locked.

Tester builds before 1.0. The September build fixed preferences, the startup layout and the default scene not arriving in a version that had already been launched, and node groups and custom nodes not migrating at all.
